We have compiled a list of questions and answers regarding name changes at Rakuten Mobile. Please refer to it when you go through the procedure.
1. Q: Is it necessary to change the name on my account before switching to Rakuten Mobile?
A: Yes, if you are switching carriers while keeping your number, the name on your current contract with the mobile carrier and the name on your Rakuten Mobile account must match. If the names are different, you will need to change the name on your account before switching carriers.

2. Q: What should I do if I want to change the account from a family member's name to my own name?
A: First, the current subscriber (e.g. parent) will go through the "transfer procedure" with the mobile phone company they have a contract with, then obtain an MNP reservation number and apply to Rakuten Mobile.

3. Q: Can I change the name after signing up for Rakuten Mobile?
A: No. In the case of MNP, if the names do not match, your application will be rejected by Rakuten Mobile. Please make sure the names match before applying.

4. Q: Can I change the name on my Rakuten Mobile account?
A: No. As a general rule, Rakuten Mobile does not currently accept name changes for active contracts. If you absolutely need to change the name, you will need to cancel the contract and re-contract under a new name.

A: Yes. Rakuten Mobile does not allow people under the age of 18 to sign a contract, so the contract must be made in the name of a guardian.
